Rinat Akhmetov, the most renowned benefactor in Ukraine

01.11.2019

A sociological survey held by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) in June 2019 revealed that the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is the leader among the top three Ukrainian charitable organizations, staying ahead of even the International Committee of the Red Cross in terms of popularity indicators. Thanks to the Foundation’s major nationwide projects, over 95% of the Ukrainian population are aware of Rinat Akhmetov’s charitable activities.

The humanitarian aid programs for civilians in the Donbas helped save millions of Ukrainian lives. The Foundation’s efforts in this area were highly praised not only by people living in our country but also by international organizations. According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Representative in Ukraine Pablo Mateu, the help provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation becomes priceless as many international organizations are leaving the Donbas region.

“Unfortunately, many international organizations left the east of Ukraine. But that makes Rinat Akhmetov’s support to civilians all the more valuable and the role played by his Foundation in solving the problems people have to face along the confrontation line much more important,” Pablo Mateu said.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation began the 15th year of its charitable activity with an unprecedented project, “200 ambulances for Ukraine”, which was implemented on an unmatched scale. The vehicles with ultramodern equipment, some of which are unique off-road ambulances, were delightfully received by medics in many cities and villages across the entire country.

“For the first time during the 28 years of our country’s independence, Rinat Akhmetov became the only benefactor to give medics such a large number of ultramodern ambulances. These vehicles, which will be donated to Ukrainian hospitals that need them the most, will help save lives of more than a million Ukrainians,” Natalia Yemchenko, member of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s Supervisory Board said.

Since its inception, the Foundation has implemented a number of projects which helped millions of people preserve their health. More than 120,000 people received help under Cancer is Curable and Stop Tuberculosis programs alone. And thanks to “No to Orphanhood!” project which the Foundation has been running for many years, almost 10 thousand children found new parents.
