“I Used to Be Afraid to Move, but Now I Am Healthy”: An Injured Resident of Kramatorsk Underwent a Rehabilitation Course From the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

Tetiana Kozlova was seriously injured during a shelling of her hometown Kramatorsk. On 18 March 2023, the city was again attacked by the enemy. The woman, who is 61-year-old, suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and underwent surgical interventions. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helped Tetiana by covering the cost of a special fixation bracing needed to save her hand after injuries. After the medical treatment, she underwent a rehabilitation course at a sanatorium in Zakarpattia, also provided by the Foundation.

“Nature is beautiful here, and the diet is wonderful. They give me mud baths, electric massage, magnetic therapy, regular massage, oxygen cocktails, and there are two swimming pools available here. Psychologists work here too. My hand is healing. I used to be afraid to move, but now I am healthy. I feel I have more energy now; I feel calmer and more self-confident now. Thank you very much. I am a pensioner, and I would not be able to afford coming here and paying for it myself. Only thanks to Rinat Akhmetov. I wish him good health!” says the woman.

Tetiana recalls that immediately after an attack with cluster shells, which hit her house and a large area around it, everything was in a fog, and dust was rising. When shell fragments flew, she mechanically covered her face with her right hand, and so that hand was badly injured.

“In Kramatorsk, they inserted me wires for fixation. Then they took me to Dnipro where seven shell fragment wounds were stitched up. After that, I got to Kropyvnytskyi where I was operated on, and metal plates were inserted. All this was thanks to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. He was the only one who came to help. I am very thankful,” says Tatyana, not holding back tears. 

After the medical treatment and a course of rehabilitation procedures, she notices a significant improvement in her physical and psycho-emotional condition. Tetiana dreams of a full recovery, of having her hand’s functions restored, and of returning to her hometown and living happily with her family again.
