"We are all our memory": journalist Dmytro Gordon shares his impression of the VOICES Exhibition of The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

15.04.2024

The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv is hosting the VOICES Exhibition, which opened the multimedia space of The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Recently, the exhibition was visited by a celebrity couple of Ukrainian journalists and TV presenters - Dmytro Gordon and Olesya Batsman.

"The exhibition is impressive. It brought me back to the first hours of a full-scale war. It made my heart clench. It is very strong, with the use of advanced technologies. But all the technologies are secondary; the primary thing is the soul that is put into this exhibition," Dmytro shares his impressions.

Most of all, Dmytro was touched by the images: houses with lights on, suitcases in which people packed their entire lives. And the ashes underfoot, because every day Ukrainians die, every day Ukraine is destroyed by russian barbarians...

"We are all our memory. We are all filled with childhood memories, our parents and friends, our very first feelings, and the most terrible events in our lives. War is one of the most horrific events in the life of every Ukrainian. We will always return to it in our minds - to sadness, to tears, to emotions. Therefore, it is important that such exhibitions take place because this is something that cannot be seen on the Internet or on television; it is completely different. It evokes fierce emotions that make a person human," says the journalist.

Dmytro emphasised that the exhibition is important to him personally and mentioned the assistance provided by Rinat Akhmetov to Ukrainians.

"Rinat Akhmetov helps ordinary people a lot today. It would seem how much has already been done and how much more will be done... But his Foundation has also created this exhibition, which is very important for every Ukrainian, particularly me. I believe that every Ukrainian, Kyiv resident and guest of our beautiful city should come here," says Dmytro.

The VOICES Exhibition with the GOGOLFEST art installation is open to visitors until the end of May 2024 at the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv at: 7 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street. Admission is free. Curatorial tours are held every Saturday at 3 p.m. and are also free of charge.
