Stop TB national project was presented on 16 May in Donetsk by the Foundation for Development of Ukraine initiated by Rinat Akhmetov, member of parliament and businessman.
 
He said that this problem had hit his family too. “I know what TB is. Unfortunately my family suffered from this disaster too. My brother suffered form TB. He has just a half of a lung left. We were fighting with the whole family for him. And only because of that did he defeat TB”, said Rinat Akhmetov.
 
The program of Foundation is designed for five years and UAH 1m will be spent over that period. The budget of the Foundation is financed by SCM. The programs will mainly be implemented in regions.
 
Anatoly Blizniuk, Donetsk Regional Council Chairman, present at the ceremony, called on successful businessmen to take an active part in program realization. In particular, the ceremony was attended by well-known businessmen Sergey Taruta and Vadim Novinskiy. Governors of the regions with highest TB prevalence – Mr Sadykov from Nikolayev Region, Mr Chervonenko from Zaporozhye Region, and Mr Oliynyk from Lvov Region – participated in the ceremony as well. Nina Karpachyova and Sergey Bubka attended the event too.
