The Foundation of the richest man in Ukraine will spend UAH 100m to implement Ukraine Without TB Program.
 
Ukraine’s richest man Rinat Akhmetov is ready to give UAH 100m to fight against TB. The national project “Ukraine Without TB” was launched in Donetsk on Wednesday. It is designed for 5 years with the major goal to cut TB prevalence. The first step in the project implementation was the launch of the regional program in Donetsk Region. The program was inspired by Rinat Akhmetov, President of Foundation for Development of Ukraine and MP. He promised his Foundation would allocate UAH 100m on implementation of the program over the next 5 years. Half of the amount will be spent on realization of the regional program. “I know what TB is. Unfortunately my family suffered from this disaster too. My brother had a serious form of TB. He has just a half of lung left. We were fighting with the whole family for him, every day, every hour, every second. And only because of that did he defeat TB”, said Rinat Akhmetov. He believes we need to consolidate our efforts and “effectively manage the struggle” to prevail over TB. Every hour 4 people get contracted with TB and one patient dies of it in Ukraine.
