On 29 September, 2007 the Foundation for Development of Ukraine announced two tenders “Creation of National Anti-tuberculosis Center for Psychological and Social Rehabilitation of Children Treated Against TB” and “Encouraging Scientific and Social Applied Researches”.

 
The Foundation launched national special TB projects in August 2007 under the Health of the Nation Program and Stop TB Project. The major national projects goals include creating a national TB center for psychological and social rehabilitation of children treated against TB, encouraging scientific and social applied researches, and holding academic and practical conferences.

To achieve the first goal an existing health improvement center run by the Ministry of Health Care will be chosen by a tender, repaired, and equipped. Also, effective programs for children rehabilitation will be developed, personnel will be trained, and the center will be opened for rehabilitation of Ukrainian children with TB that need psychological and social rehabilitation to come back to normal life. The Foundation expects the bidders to submit their concepts for development of the center, including particularly new and effective methods of children rehabilitation. The Committee created by the Foundation and the Ministry of Health Care will choose the winner with the most interesting and realistic concept meeting selection criteria set forth in tender provisions.

 
To achieve the second goal, 3-5 projects – scientific and social TB applied researches – will be selected by a tender to improve available methods of TB diagnostics, treatment, and prevention among adults, children, and youth. This will result in bettering the TB situation in Ukraine.
