On Saint Nikolas Day of 19 December, 2007 Donetsk Region will see the seventh charitable event “Shakhtar for Children”. This initiative has turned into a good tradition for the football club. This year it will cover 103 institutions (orphanage-schools, children homes, and health improvement centers) with 12,605 children.

In 2007, the event is focused on family-type children homes for the first time ever.

Following the established tradition, the president of FC Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov and his friend Russian composer Igor Krutoy will visit 3 of 103 institutions:
– Children home in Makeyevka
– Family-type children home; 
– Donetsk secondary orphanage-school for children with mental and physical disadvantages.

The New Year event “Shakhtar for Children” will be carried out this year together with Foundation for Development of Ukraine.

The budget of the event in 2007 totals UAH 3,984m.
