Goal of the contest:

COMPREHENSIVE social studies to determine level of Donetsk oblast citizens' awareness about tuberculosis epidemic.

The studies shall consist of three components:

1. Representative poll among Donetsk Oblast citizens to determine level of awareness about TB epidemic.

2. Studying level of awareness of (focus group) target groups about TB epidemic

Target groups:
• Donetsk oblast citizens;
• Patients at Anti-TB centers;
• People living with HIV/AIDS;
• Prisoners;
• Medical staff;
• Top executives in health system;
• Representatives of state and local authorities.

3. Content analysis of print media in Donetsk oblast for 2007 regarding TB.

Location – Donetsk oblast.

Requirements to contest application form

The application form has to contain the following obligatory sections:
• Title page;
• Information about your organization;
• Project description including time schedule (stage by stage)
• Feasible budget in details containing all stages and types of work (in UAH)

Please attach the following documents to your application form:

1. Profile of your organization (Appendix 1)
2. notarized copy of your Articles of Association as amended and supplemented;
3. notarized copy of certificate of state registration;
4. notarized copy of certificate evidencing that you company features in Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
5. list of similar studies conducted by your organization

You may attach other documents evidencing your ability to carry out this project (support letters, publications, etc.)

One counterpart of application form in Russian or Ukrainian shall be submitted by mail or by hand to the office of Foundation for Development of Ukraine.

Deadline: 30 January 2008 until 18:00.

                 Requirements to description of works

The following works are required.
1. developing a program and tools for the studies;
2. constructing sample frame;
3. collecting empirical data;
4. analyzing the data;
5. preparing final report;
6. preparing proposal based on the results achieved outlining concepts of awareness campaign in Donetsk oblast.

Timelines:

Timelines for the projects to be submitted within the contest:
field studies and preparation of the final report  - until 1 April 2008;
content analysis of print media – until 1 May 2008.

Procedures of the contest:

The applications forms and attachments thereto shall be considered by selection committee and contest committee established by the Foundation for Development of Ukraine.

Selection criteria:
1. strong elaboration of details of the project;
2. budget feasibility;
3. general experience;
4. at least 5-year experience in social studies;
5. experience of work with state and Donetsk oblast authorities;
6. partner organizations in Donetsk oblast;
7. experience in conducting social studies regarding infective diseases (AIDS, TB, STIs).

The results of the contest will be posted on the Foundation\s websites www.fdu.org.ua and www.stoptb.in.ua

Contest winner shall be notified not later than the next day after signature of protocol of the contest results.
