Today, on 7 May, on the eve of the Victory Day, representatives of Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine and Shakhtar FC congratulated WWII veterans on the Victory Day. Maryinka. Fifteen years ago, Shakhtar FC started supporting Donetsk Regional Hospital for WWI Disabled Veterans in Maryinka. Two years ago, the Foundation for Development of Ukraine joined Shakhtar in taking care of the veterans.

Continuing the football club's tradition, the Foundation organized a festive concert for the veterans. The concert featured performances by Anatoliy Voronin, Vera Lebedinskaya and Stepan Babalikov, soloists of Donetsk Academic National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Honoured Artists of Ukraine and award winners of nationwide competitions, as well as performance by the guitar players’ duo, Vadim Voronin and Vladislav Babushkin. At the end of the celebration, the veterans received gifts and souvenirs bearing emblems of Shakhtar FC and Donbass Arena on behalf of Rinat Akhmetov. On 9 May, a festive table will be arranged for the veterans.
