Rinat Akhmetov announced Donetsk Citizens Recognition Prize winner in the nomination "Caring for the future"
On 15 January, the award ceremony for Donetsk Citizens Recognition Prize established by the Executive Committee of Donetsk City Council took place. Rinat Akhmetov (MP), President of Foundation for Development of Ukraine, was awarded the prize for caring for the future. Director of the Foundation Anatoliy Zabolotny shared the Foundation's plans for the future.
– Foundation for Development of Ukraine is probably the only organization in the country which provides so much help to children, isn't it?
– Let's proceed from the fact that Rinat Akhmetov was personally awarded. It's quite logic. As a Member of Parliament and President of Shakhtar FC and Foundation for Development of Ukraine, Rinat Akhmetov is extensively involved in charity. In fact, we may say, he has no peer in this aspect either in Donetsk or in Ukraine as a whole.
– What campaigns are you going to hold this year?
– We will continue campaign "Shakhtar for children" which has been held on St. Nickolas Day, 19 December, for seven consecutive years. This year a strategic decision was made to apply systemic approach to solution of orphanage problem. UAH 15m was allocated for development of family-type structures for fostering orphans. We have not only to support boarding school and orphan homes, but contribute to reduction in social orphanage. There must be fewer children living outside families. In January, the Foundation will develop a large-scale program for family-type foster structures to be implemented starting this year.
Moreover, a large family support program will be launched in four regions (Donetsk, Lugansk, Zakarpatye Oblasts and Crimea). It's clear, that such personality as the President of the Foundation Rinat Akhmetov will not limit his activities to Eastern Ukraine, for example. In this case, as you may see, the program covers Western, Eastern and Southern Ukraine.
Don't forget that, as we have announced earlier, the large anti-TB program is being implemented under auspices of Rinat Akhmetov and his team. Currently, the program is widely implemented not only in Donetsk Oblast, but throughout Ukraine. We may say that a revolutionary approach changing the whole system has been applied in this case. Of course, the program contemplates repair of hospitals and provision of drugs to them. The main thing is that we are changing the system to make it work to the benefit of people, not medical establishments.
– So, it's another example of systemic approach to solution of the problems, isn't it?
– That's right. It's not a pinpoint aid, but a systemic approach. We have recently received experts from Moscow who pointed out that we do the things ever done by anyone in the CIS. Our program is akin to that implemented by Margaret Thatcher, when the UK healthcare system was reformed.
