RSS The Supervisory Board Decides to Allocate Funds to Families of Casualties and Survivors of Explosion in Luhansk Hospital No.7

The second Supervisory Board meeting on relief actions following the explosion in Luhansk city hospital No.7 took place today, on 22 January. The heads of the dedicated departments responsible for relief measures in the city and region participated in the meeting. The Board made decisions on the key issues: allocation of funds to the families of casualties and survivors and equipping of the pulmonology department of hospital No.7. Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine provided UAH 2 million to support the families and purchase the equipment.

The help will be distributed among the families as follows:

- UAH 10,000 as a basic amount will be provided to each of 15 bereaved families. Especial care will be given to the families with underage children or students. The amount for each underage child will make up UAH 50,000 (there are four children in total). Besides, UAH 50,000 will be given to two students and a young man currently serving in the Ukrainian army.

- UAH 50,000 will be provided to each of five patients and hospital employees in grave condition, who are currently being treated in the intensive care department.

As was previously reported, the Foundation will purchase the necessary equipment for the intensive care department, which is going to operate temporarily in the premises of Luhansk city hospital No.4. The hospital’s patient capacity will be increased from 6 to 10 beds. By 5 February 2010, the required treatment and diagnostic equipment will be selected, purchased and installed in the hospital No.4. As for the destroyed building of the hospital No.7, the plan is to restore it within six months. A part of the funds allocated by the Foundation for Development of Ukraine will be used to equip the damaged cardiology department.
