Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine Congratulates Kiev’s Pirogovo Museum on 40th Anniversary
The Pirogovo Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life (National Academy of Sciences) will mark its 40th anniversary tomorrow, on 9 October. Director of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine (FDU) Anatoliy Zabolotny greeted the Museum on the jubilee: "The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life is a major centre keeping the memory of our past, of our life 100, 200 and even 300 years ago. Therefore, supporting the Museum is a matter of honour for us. The Foundation for Development of Ukraine has been cooperating with the Museum since 2008 by investing to improve the Museum's infrastructure. We have extensive plans to develop the Museum in the future”.
The budget of the joint project realized by the FDU and the Museum amounts to UAH 15m and is designed for three years. The funds are spent to develop the infrastructure and restore the exhibits. In 2008-2009 the partners replaced a big part of water and power supply network, almost completed the excursion road, as well as restored and renovated endangered exhibits. In 2010 the Foundation for Development of Ukraine and the Museum will be renovating folk architecture sites.
