Children's health is a priority! How to get help for treatment

22.02.2018

“The future is today... There is no tomorrow. The day of man's salvation is now”, Dale Carnegie wrote. This is the principle of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. Especially when it comes to saving children’s lives. Thanks to “Targeted Assistance” programme for the last three and a half years, the Center has provided assistance for the treatment to more than five thousand children.

The assistance should often be provided without delay. As it was the case with two-month-old Roma Balbekov, who was born with cerebral edema. Only after the Humanitarian Center had provided all the necessary medications on time, the baby began a recovery.

Roma was born prematurely. Under the supervision of Mariupol doctors he spent a month on the verge of life and death. The kid could not eat for a week, he was fed on a drip.

The boy from Donetsk family of internally displaced persons needed expensive medications. Olha Balbekova is a single mother. In addition to Roma, she has four more children. The woman just could not buy the medications. Only after Olha has turned to Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, her son received a vital treatment.

“The child was born in a critical condition, it was necessary to react immediately. The Center provided all the necessary preparations,” says Iryna Temerko, the head of “Targeted Assistance” direction of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. “Thanks to this and the doctors’ care, we’ve managed to save the child's life. Now the boy's condition has stabilized, the swelling went down. He is in a satisfactory condition."

For three years of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center’s operation, more than 50 thousand of people received the targeted assistance. Of these, the assistance for treatment was provided for more than 10 thousand people, half of whom are children.
