12 million survival kits for Donbas civilians

09.02.2018

As of February 9, 2018, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued 12 million product packages to civilians of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on both sides of the contact line.

For three and a half years of its work, the Center sent 131 thousand tons of products to Donbas and created its own unique mechanism for the delivery and the humanitarian aid quality review: beginning from the purchase of goods to the delivery of a package with a survival kit personally into the recipient’s hands. In addition, the Center constantly monitors the recipients’ feedback on the products quality.

“All the products meant to Donbas civilians undergo a five-stage quality review, including laboratory research and monitoring of storage and transportation conditions,” says Roman Rubchenko, the director of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. “The Center has established fixed distribution centers, where people receive the product packages. The mobile volunteer teams, who regularly deliver assistance to the front-line villages and towns, keep working too, travelling to places rarely reached by other missions, where there is no one else to rely on. For many of the locals, the Humanitarian Center’s assistance became the only way to avoid hunger.”

In February alone the mobile teams will deliver products to 45 villages and settlements of the “grey zone”. This aid is for the most vulnerable social groups, including elderly and disabled people, children and large families, single parents.
