Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine Launches Project under Program of the President “Warming a Child with Love” in Donetsk Region
On 21 February, the Foundation for Development of Ukraine and Donetsk Regional State Administration signed a Memorandum which kick started implementation of the Foundation’s program focused on providing help to large families in Donetsk Region.
Families with 10 or more underage children were identified and their most urgent problems were revealed in December 2007-January 2008. Large families are located geographically from the South to the North of the region and chiefly concentrate in 10 towns and one district: Donetsk, Mariupol, Makeyevka, Kramatorsk, Dokuchayevsk, Dzerzhinsk, Khartsyzsk, Shakhtyorsk, Slavyansk, Gorlovka and Volodarskiy district.
The Foundation for Development of Ukraine has taken up patronage over 6 families: 3 families from Dzerzhinsk, and another three from Khartsyzsk, Dokuchaevsk and Slavyansk.
The ceremony of Memorandum signing was attended by Anatoliy Zabolotny, Director of Foundation for Development of Ukraine; Vladimir Logvinenko, Chairman of Regional State Administration, heads of Regional State Administration departments, mayors of cities and towns, and business officials.
According to Anatoliy Zabolotny, “each company will individually build relations with each family, and each family will receive required and appropriate support”.
The Donetsk Region leader pointed out that “the year 2008 has been proclaimed the Year of Family in Donetsk Region. This includes supporting and caring for families that have recently adopted children and the families in difficult living situations, large families, as well as families of killed miners or military servants”.

The budget of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine allocated on the program of helping large families totals UAH 15m. The program covers 4 regions: Zakarpattya (UAH 4.37m), Luhansk Region (UAH 2.55m), the Crimea (UAH 1.996m) and Donetsk Region.
