Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development Ukraine together with the Department of Press and Information at Donetsk Regional State Administration summed up the results of Together Against TB contest for media and journalists of Donetsk oblast. The award ceremony took place on 29 January 2009 in Donetsk at Vostok-Media press centre. The media-forum was attended by Anatoliy Zabolotny, the FDU Director; Vladimir Bezrodny, Head of  the Department of Press and Information; Aleksandr Vlasenko, Head of Healthcare Department at Donetsk Regional Administration; Vakhtang Kipiani, an independent  journalist and expert at international organization Internews-Ukraine Anton Topchiy.

The contest on the best coverage of TB epidemic in the regional media was held under the program "Fighting TB Epidemic in Donetsk Region in 2007 - 2011", which is implemented with the support of Donetsk Regional Council, Donetsk Regional State Administration and Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine. 

The key goal was to put TB in the spotlight, involve the general public into a wide range of activities targeted to prevent TB spread, as well as promote loyal attitude towards people with TB and eliminate all forms of their discrimination.

The jury of Together Against TB contest has considered 136 bids submitted by 13 print-media, 4 online publications and 13 TV and radio media.

The first prize in the nomination For the Best Coverage of TB Epidemic in Audiovisual Media was not won by anybody.

• BiTiVi Company (Donetsk) received the second prize and UAH 20,000 for their project "Postfaktum"
• Yunion TV company took the third prize and UAH 10,000 for the project by the journalist Nataliya Nekrsova "Alert Area".
• A special award and UAH 10,000 was granted to Region Donbass publication for their project "Unappealing Profession".

The Best Coverage of TB Epidemic in Print Media, Information Agencies, and Online Editions:
 

1. The first prize and UAH 15,000 was taken by Mama newspaper (Donetsk)
2. The second prize and UAH 10,000 went to Kochegarka newspaper (Gorlovka town)
3. Two third prizes of UAH 5,000 each were taken by Vechernyaya Makeyevka and Vperyod (Artyomovsk town)
4. A special prize Cannon sx110S camera was taken by Vostochny Proekt newspaper (Kramatorsk town) for the article by Yelena Savchenko "Do you contact TB?"
5. Special prize Sony DSC-H-10 camera went to Donetsk Regional Sanitary Department for a range of TB publications  in Vestnik SES Donbassa.

The managing board of Donbass company (Mama newspaper) decided to allocate its prize of UAH 15,000 to the Children Department of Donetsk Regional In-Patient TB Hospital.
