The second meeting of the Legislative Group on TB initiated by the Foundation in partnership with the Committee on Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Other Socially Dangerous Diseases of the Ministry of Health Care will take place on 9 October, 2008 within the framework of national projects realized under Stop TB program.

A new bill "On Fighting TB Morbidity" initiated by the Foundation for Development of Ukraine and developed by its consultant Vladimir Rudyy jointly with the top-flight Ukrainian experts on TB problems is expected to be presented at the group meeting.

The meeting will gather TB doctors from many Ukrainian regions as well as representatives from different ministries and institutions that can help address the TB problem in Ukraine. All the participants can make recommendations to improve the new bill. Its current version is rather compromising in a number of hard-to-settle issues such as forced treatment or urgent hospitalization. The new project takes into account the practices of Poland and Slovakia that managed to take the TB epidemic under control, as well as the features of TB epidemic spread in Ukraine.

The meeting will take place at 1/3 Mikhaylovskaya str., Kozatskaya Hotel at 10:00 a.m.
