Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine and Magnoliya NGO started cooperation under the national charitable project “This Child Needs a Family!” The project aims to help orphans exercise the right for have a family and create conditions for their physical, spiritual, intellectual and cultural development. The annual budget of the projects comes up to UAH 720,000.

The project provides for a broad-scale awareness raising campaign to find Ukrainian families willing to adopt these children and become their foster parents. Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine assists to access, receive and analyze information about the children for adoption in Donetsk, Zakarpatye, Luhansk oblasts and the Crimea. These regions are also covered by the Foundation’s project “Warming a Child with Love” that improves living conditions of large families that bring up over 10 underage children.

For the month of cooperation, the Foundation provided the following information about children orphans to make videos with them:  Crimea – 192 children; Donetsk oblast – 200; Luhansk oblast – 133; Zakarpatye oblast - 131. Altogether, the partners plan to make 500 videos. Informational partners of the project include Ukraina, Inter and STB channels. Other national TV channels with support of the Foundation will also play videos about children awaiting their foster parents.

Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine has also created a free hot-line 8 800 501 41 40. Potential parents can call and learn about every child featured in a TV clip, as well as get full information about adoption, contacts and addresses of state children establishments and social services all over Ukraine.

We remind that Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine is implementing two projects – Foster Care Promotion and Family Building as well as Large Families of Ukraine – targeted to help children exercise their rights and create conditions for children’s development.

The Foundation hopes that the project This Child Needs a Family! will boost the level of national children adoption; reduce the number of small orphans and neglected children by 30% by 2010 in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zakarpatye oblasts and the Crimea.
