1. To select the winners of the project Ukrainian Media Against TB Epidemic initiated by Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine

DISCUSSED:

1. Report presented by Vlasta Shovkovs’ka, the panel member, director of external relations, Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine, on the following:

Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine initiated the Ukrainian Media Against TB Epidemic сontest, which targets to encourage media to issue materials, publications, programs, stories and messages boosting public awareness of the spread and gravity of TB epidemic, as well as covering informative and other measures aimed at TB prevention and early TB treatment.

Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine has developed general provisions on the Ukrainian Media Against TB Epidemic contest specifying terms and conditions.

The above provisions were posted for bidders on the website of Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine www.fdu.org.ua.

According to the provisions of the Competition, the bidders, i.e. those who submitted an application, include 137 media, comprising 104 print editions, 33 broadcasting media.

This year with the support of the Ukrainian Journalistic Foundation, Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine has held the second competition of this type.

Under the provisions of the competitions, all jury panel members have unanimously acclaimed the submitted works and have selected the winners in the following categories:

1.1. Best coverage of TB-epidemic in print, online media, and information agencies:

- First prize of UAH 20,000 (UAH twenty thousand) goes to Zdes’ Zhivyom municipal newspaper (Energodar city, Zaporozhskaya oblast)

- Two second place prizes of UAH 10,000 (UAH ten thousand) go to Dialog Newspaper (Kirovohrad city, Kirovohrad oblast) and Nikolaevskie Novosti Newspaper (Mykolayv city, Mykolayvs’ka oblast)

- Three third place prizes of UAH 5,000 (UAH five thousand) go to Chornomors’ki Novyny Newspaper (Odessa city, Odesskaya oblast), Channel 33 Newspaper (Vinnytsya city, Vinnitskaya oblast), and Lvivs’ka Hazeta Newspaper (Lviv city, Lviv oblast)

1.2. Best coverage of TB-epidemic fight in audio and visual mass media: 

- First cash prize of UAH 20,000 (UAH twenty thousand) goes to Chernivtsi Regional State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Chernivtsi city, Chernivets’ka oblast)

- Two second place prizes of UAH 10,000 (UAH ten thousand) go to Ltava Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Poltava city, Poltavskaya oblast) and to Skifiya Kherson Regional State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Kherson city, Khersonskaya oblast)

- Three third place prizes of UAH 5,000 (UAH five thousand) go to Dzhankoy Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Dzhankoy city, Crimea), Publitsist-TV Regional State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Ternopil, Ternopil’s’ka oblast)

1.3. Extensive and consistent coverage of TB-epidemic during a long period: UAH 5,000 (UAH five thousand) will be granted to Zakhidny Kuryer Newspaper (Ivano-Frankivs’k city, Ivano-Frankivs’k oblast).

VOTED:

- to nominate the above mentioned legal entities – mass media as winners and prize takers of the Ukrainian Media Against TB Epidemic Contest initiated by Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine

- to post the results of the Ukrainian Media Against TB Epidemic Contest on the website of Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine

- to award the representatives of all editorial offices with valuable prizes and acknowledgement certificates

- to invite the proactive representatives of editorial offices to take part in a three-day workshop which will be held on 19-21 September in Yalta, with all participation expenses to be covered by Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine.
