 Foundation for Development of Ukraine and the National University of Kiev Mohyla Academy Admit Students for Second Year of Studies under Project "Digital Future of Journalism"

Students will be admitted until 19 September. The course will start on 6 October and is designed for 6 month. Students will receive certificates after successful completion. The program is a postgraduate course and does not allow for any additional degree or credit. The course focuses on the insight into state-of-the-art digital technologies, new business models for media business, as well as development of high quality content for a wide range of media.
 

The program is universal, i.e. enables students to enhance knowledge and skills in their publication and work in multiplatform environment that includes conventional and cutting-edge media. This meets modern imperatives and demands of the audience, will expand knowledge and skills of attendees, and improve their competitiveness in the market.

New requirements to content and new instruments for collecting and processing information. Principles of convergence journalism and professional standards. 6-10 October 2008.



Module 2. News in multimedia world. Texts of conventional and new media. One story for many media. Formats of digital news. Key text requirements. Ethical news standards. Copyright. 3-7 November 2008.

 



Module 3. Multimedia content in web 2.0. Blog development, maintenance, and promotion. 8-12 December 2008.



Module 4. Online audiomedia: from podcast to radio station.  Audio blogs. Basic audio packages. Facilities. Audio banks and resources. 19-23 January 2009.



Module 5. Video news: filming, editing, downloading, saving, distributing. Streaming video. Video blogs (vlogs). Video distribution in mobile networks. 9-13 February 2009.

 



Module 6. Graphics in new media. Digital photography. Informational graphics. Adjusting graphics to different media. Photo banks. User-generated photos (user-generated content). Image processing for different media. Image ethics. 2-6 March 2009.



Module 7. Computer-based journalistic research. 6-10 April 2010.



Module 8. Economics, business models of new media. Converged newsroom management. New media advertising. 18-22 May 2009.



Module 9. Final individual project: development, presentation, discussion. Graduation ceremony. 29 May 2009.



Module 10. Insight into international practices. 20-27 June 2009.
