Foundation for Development of Ukraine Provides TB Medicines for Krivoy Rog TB Dispensary

Supplies of TB medicines in Ukrainian regions remain unstable. According to Krivoy Rog Regional TB Dispensary, the city is running out of second-line TB medicines intended for treatment of advanced TB forms, which are resistant to regular, i.e. first-line TB drugs.

The Foundation for Development of Ukraine (FDU) is realizing Stop TB Project and cares for high quality treatment of TB-patients in Ukraine. The FDU decided to address the problem and bought drugs for Krivoy Rog TB Dispensary last week in amounts sufficient to complete treatment for five children suffering from multi-drug-resistant TB. This category of patients needs assistance the most today.

The Foundation bought BCG vaccine for newborns in Donetsk and Rovno oblasts earlier, having responded to their calling to purchase the vaccine, while it was not in place.

Although Stop TB Project focuses on systematic problems in the medical TB service, the Foundation is well aware of the need to respond quickly in emergencies, particularly when life and health of children is under danger. FDU is ready to provide such assistance in future. The Foundation for Development of Ukraine also hopes for the Ukrainian Ministry of Health Care to take measures and ensure due deliveries of medicines to the regions.
