Verkhovinsk District in Ivano-Frankovsk Region Gets First Aid form Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine
Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine has purchased first necessity food kits (water, bread, butter, cereals, sugar, canned food, pasta) for the total amount of UAH 280,000 to supply cut-off villages and settlements in Ivano-Frankovsk region, in particular Verkhovinsk, Snyatin, and Kosovo. Food was delivered first to citizens of Yablunitsa and Holoshinok villages of Verkhovinsk district.
The Foundation for Development of Ukraine is operating in the area supplying its inhabitants with food by helicopter. To this goal, the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine and Ukrainian Armed Forces have provided two helicopters. It’s not enough though to deliver 7,000 food kits promptly. There are also problems with top-ups for the crafts. Governor of Ivano-Frankovsk Region Nikolay Paliychuk says the helicopters are filled without payment just on his promises, reports Svetlana Panushkina, manager of the Foundation.
The latest updates from Verkhovinsk district show the area lacks for vehicles and machinery to repair communications. Roads have been devastated, while water is coming off making roads even worse and endangering to cut off some other settlements. So far, 23 villages have been isolated.
Ruins resemble bomb explosion fallout with holes, pits, and destroyed houses all over the area, says Svetlana Panushkina, manager of the Foundation. The air stinks.
Delivered food will suffice for several days. It is unclear when the transportation and communications will be restored and what the local citizens will face in a week. The districts of Snyatin and Kosovo with isolated villages are on the queue for assistance.
Foundation together with former Eurovision winner Ruslana are trying to get through to the village of Bystretsk. A mother of underage children has called saying her family are starving and waiting for help.
