Students of Donetsk Culture College sent an open letter-address to the President, Prime-Minister, MPs, chairmen of regional state administration and regional council, mayor of Donetsk, and businessmen on 6 June asking to help their fellow student Marta Timchenko. The 18-year-old has brain tumor. The letter was also sent to president of Foundation for Development of Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov.

The Foundation will take care of Marta since today and fund all treatment stages. A driver and a Foundation official took the young lady from her native Kramatorsk to Donetsk to Kalinin Hospital. She was given an individual room in the neurosurgery department to stay with her mother until the treatment is over. Chief doctor of the unit Vartam Gyulemeryants, head hospital doctor Anatoliy Kardash, deputy head doctor for surgery Andrey Sokolevich, and doctor in charge Zhan Belenskiy decided to perform a surgery on Marta. The preliminary list of medicines for the first treatment stage at amount of UAH 13,500 was fixed. According to Vartam Gyulemeryants, the hospital makes operations as well as provides wards, three-time meals, and preparation treatment to all patients free of charge.

Marta’s mother Lyudmila said she “didn’t feel” any help “but promises” from anybody else besides the assistance of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine and the aid of the college (students donated UAH 2,000 and are ready to provide donor blood).

The operation will be performed on 10 or 11 June.

The girl has been stable so far.
