The Foundation for Development of Ukraine became the primary partner of the 5th Seni Cup Football Tournament held among people with disabilities on 28-30 May at Svyatoshino Sport Camp. Seni Cup-2008 title was competed for by 16 teams from different Ukrainian regions, while the champion received the right to represent Ukraine in the final of the international football league for people with disabilities in Poland.

The team of Shevchenko Orphanage in Kharkov won the competition having prevailed over Pochayevskiy Orphanage (Ternopol City). The third place was taken by Shakhtyorskiy (Donetsk) and Oktyabrskiy orphanages. The organizers decided that the winner will go the Seni Cup 2008 in Poland in company with their fans – the team of Pervomaiskiy orphanage from Nikolayev Region.

Technical partner of the championship FC Shakhtar provided all participants with football costumes, while prize-winners received footballs from the Ukrainian champion.

Shakhtar representatives recognized the best forward Vladimir Paliy (Kharkov) with a T-shirt of Shakhtar's striker Aleksandr Gladkiy; the best player Yevgeniy Potanov (Zankovetskiy orphanage) – a T-shirt of Shakhtar's player Dario Srna; and the best goalkeeper  Yelena Pochepa (Pervomaiskiy orphanage) – a goalkeeper jersey of Andrey Pyatov.

Speaking at the grand opening of the tournament, Vlasta Shovkovskaya, External Communications Director of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine, said "Children with limited abilities must be fully integrated in all spheres of life and have an active style of living in the modern civilized society. It is extremely important for the Foundation to support through such competitions the children forced to live differently than the most of their counterparts. This meets the principle of systematic approach in the Foundation's activity. Seni Cup helps teenagers develop physically, become morally sound, find new friends, and overcome the fear of the public life".

The tournament opening was attended also by officials of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Ukrainian National Committee for Sport of Disabled People, the Chief Administration for Protection of Population, the Federation of Football of Ukraine, and Administration for Development of Olympic Movement.

Seni Cup was first held 15 years ago. Firstly, it was organized only in Poland. Today the competition is also hosted by Russia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine. Seni Cup meets FIFA rules and is an excellent chance for people with special needs to take part in a sport tournament and for encouraging physical development of children living in psychoneurologic orphanages.
