Donetsk Region is experiencing an extremely grave situation with vaccination of children against TB. Centralized BCG vaccine deliveries funded by the state budget were delayed due to untimely tender. The impossibility to receive a vaccine for just-born babies was of special concern. Donetsk Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Center approached senior management of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine in due time and the Foundation, in turn, provided urgent funding to purchase 15,000 BCG vaccine doses.

Vaccination for TB is mostly effective for newborn babies. Immune (protective) system of a baby has been proved to be vaccination-ready from the moment of birth. At the same time TB remains one of the most dangerous diseases for infants. The TB inoculation prevents TB meningitis and other grave TB forms in organisms of babies.
