Successful Bidder is Announced for the Tender for Restoration of the Metropolitan’s Residence in the National Monument Sophia Kievskaya
The result has been announced of the open tender for the restoration of the Metropolitan’s Residence which is part of the national historical and cultural site, Sophia Kievskaya.
The winning bidder — Kiev Inter-oblast Special Science and Restoration Design and Production Company — has already commenced work on the restoration project.
The main objective of the project, sponsored by System Capital Management (SCM) Group, is to reconstruct the interior and restore the original architecture of the Metropolitan’s Residence.
"Our aim is to make a lasting contribution to preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Ukraine. This project is especially important for us because we are providing real and effective assistance to achieve results which will be accessible for all Ukrainians. We want to restore this cultural and historically significant site to its former glory", said Anatoliy Zabolotny, the Head of the SCM Corporate Foundation for Development of Ukraine.
After reconstruction the plan is to use the Metropolitan’s Residence as a venue for official State and summit events. In addition, it will become the home of the Museum of Ukrainian Architecture and host a range of exhibitions and displays.
In 2006 the cost of reconstruction of the reserve Sophia Kievskaya will amount to UAH 46.5 million. SCM has provided UAH 15 million towards the implementation of this project. This amount has been transferred to the special bank account for the project and will be spent solely for reconstruction of the Metropolitan’s Residence.
