 SCM representatives took part in Summer school of Economic Education and Research Consortium (EERC)

 

Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of Corporate Communications, System Capital Management, and Alexander Liubyi, deputy HR director, "Azovstal" Iron and Steel Works, delivered their speeches in front of young economics teachers of colleges and universities during EERC summer school. The lectures were held on
28 July in the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
 
Jock Mendoza-Wilson told the participants about creation and development of corporate reputation in Ukrainian and European business, identified the reasons causing large companies to make investments into communication programs und emphasized the importance of such programs. He demonstrated the structure of development of communication programs, explained the interaction between business and stakeholders: employees, local communities, Government, licensing authorities, as well as defined the role of PR and advertisement in creation of reputation.  Mr. Mendoza-Wilson also shared the experience of SCM Company in developing and implementing its own program on reputation management.   
 
"Successful international companies realize how important it is to invest money into strengthening of such intangible assets as a business reputation. The reputation has a strong impact on the company value for investors and shareholders.  Reputation requires accurate and professional planning as traditional forms of investments. Competent and effective management of reputation will be of a great importance for a new generation of managers. Theoretical and practical knowledge of this aspect will be helpful for teachers of business and economics," Jock Mendoza-Wilson stressed when holding a lecture at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
 
Alexander Liubyi shared his experience in employee motivation gained by him during his work at "Azovstal" Iron and Steel Works.
 
"Salary system developed at Azovstal allows comparing totally different posts with maximum accuracy. Labor remuneration is carried out in accordance with the system of evaluation of the post essence rather than the post title. This system enabled us to build a fair hierarchy of posts and salaries. The information of competitiveness of salaries for similar posts at other companies, review of salaries paid at various Ukrainian companies enable the management of the works to take reasonable decisions on amounts of probable increase in salaries pointwise by staff categories," Alexander Liubyi said. "The major executives of Azovstal who participate in permanent commissions on the post evaluation apply Hay Group Methods," added Mr. Liubyi.
 
EERC summer school is a part of a three-year project consisting of obligatory Summer school as well as seminars and conferences held during a year. The project was initiated by EERC and is aimed at advanced training of economics teachers of universities of the CIS countries, Eastern Europe, Central and Middle Asia. Within the framework of the school the teachers study the impact of market situation on business and internal activities of the companies.  
 
Major objective of the project is to improve quality of education and research both in business and economy.
