Foundation for Development of Ukraine has held a seminar on the issues of improvement of professional training efficiency
On October 12, 2006 Foundation for Development of Ukraine together with the "Decentralization of professional training management in Ukraine" Project hold a seminar on the issues of implementation of the Canadian professional training model in Ukraine.
The participants of the seminar considered practical models of strategic management in staff training, which involve a wide range of participants: state authorities, employers, trade unions, experts, etc.
Among the participants of the seminar there were representatives of professional education and Oblast employment centers (Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk cities) as well as several key employers of Ukraine (DTEK, Azovstal and Central GOK).
"The seminar was held in a constructive way, there were critical issues and discussions and the most urgent issue was to find the solution to the problem of staff training, which is so important to all the parties concerned. Due to the presence of employers, managers of Dnepropetrovsk Oblast employment center and the Chief of Vocational Training Department of Donetsk Oblast employment center there were practical discussions concerning staff training situation both in the companies and in educational institutions", - noted Victoria Zalesskaya, the manager of Foundation for Development of Ukraine. "The Deputy Director of Dneprodzerzhinsk Vocational Technical College was the most active participant of the seminar as he used practical examples when talking about the work of the project, cooperation with employers and the employment center and he destroyed the myth of impossibility to make changes in the training programs and the myth of powerlessness of educational institutions."
"There are real mechanisms for making changes, everything depends on the wish and development strategy of an educational institution", stated Gennadiy N. Tsvinda, the Deputy Director of Dneprodzerzhinsk Vocational Technical College.
Such seminars are vitally important and serve as a platform for exchange of the best practices and positive experience. And although, to the words of the coordinator, one might see the results of the "Decentralization of professional training management in Ukraine" Project not earlier than in 5 years, all the seminar’s participants came to the conclusion that in some fields of the project implementation one can see some positive tendencies and the first positive change is active attitude of the people responsible for staff training.
