 SCM's Foundation for Development of Ukraine held presentation of the reconstructed Metropolitan's Residence of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska" and Ukraine's first Architecture Museum


October 23, 2006 Foundation for Development of Ukraine held presentation in Kyiv dedicated to completion of the first phase of restoration of the Metropolitan's Residence of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska" and pre-unveiling of Ukraine's first Architecture Museum which will be the central exposition of the Metropolitan's Residence.
Unveiling of the refurbished Metropolitan's Residence and presentation of the Architecture Museum is the result of the first cultural project implemented by the Foundation. 

SCM's Foundation for Development of Ukraine transferred UAH 15 million for the reconstruction of the Metropolitan's Residence in 2006. The funds were transferred to the budget account of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska". As of October 1, 2006, UAH 14,673,736 was spent on reconstruction.

After reconstruction, the Metropolitan's Residence, being a monument of architecture of the ХVІІІ century, will be used as a place for formal summit presentations, exhibitions and expositions. In addition, the graphics school will be located there.
Photo exhibition "Ukraine. A country of live architecture" was displayed in the Architecture Museum which will be the central exposition of the Metropolitan's Residence.  The exhibition items, collection of photos of Ukraine's architecture monuments, were provided by the Foundation for development of Ukraine. The collection will form the basis of a Foundation's project for encyclopedia of architecture "Ukraine. A country of live architecture".

"We are honored to contribute to restoration of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska", a cradle of spirituality of the Slavonic people. Reconstruction of the Metropolitan's Residence is our first cultural project put into life. We made this project not only on the basis of our knowledge and experience, but with our sole in it. The Foundation as a member of the Advisory Board will continue its participation in development of the National Reserve," said Natalia Izosimva, SCM's Director of Corporate Restructuring, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine.

After restoration financed by the Foundation is completed, further control over the project and search for the funds will be completely vested in the Advisory Board of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska", which was established at the initiative of the Foundation.

 Foundation for Development of Ukraine is a non-profitable organization founded by SCM Group on July 15, 2005. The budget of the Foundation is formed at the expense of SCM Company. The areas of activity of the Foundation include contemporary education, nation's health and cultural heritage.  Projects of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine are implemented in seven regions of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The Advisory Board of the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska" was established by the Directorate of the Reserve at the initiative of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine. The Board includes 19 well-known public figures. The Chairman of the Board is Mikola Zhulinsky, a Member of Parliament of Ukraine. The Board has the following key objectives: to make information accessible to the public (this will act as an instrument of public control), to create a development strategy for the Reserve, to help solve short-term problems and to raise necessary finance.
