SCM's Foundation for Development of Ukraine initiated a public dialogue on professional education in Ukraine, Anatoliy Zabolotny, Director of the Foundation stated during a roundtable of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education "Problems of reforming and fulfilling the State order of training specialists, educational research personnel and regular labor force".
 
"Educational system of Ukraine will be able to provide the country with the actual professional personnel only under condition of cooperation of the State with potential employers and families of future students. Presently, there is no platform for such cooperation within the framework of public dialogue in Ukraine. It has to be created. The Foundation is willing to unite the representatives of educational system, professional and student organizations, employers, lawmakers, executives within the framework of public councils. The world practice proves that this is a most successful form of cooperation of all parties concerned," Mr. Zabolotny stated. "Unfortunately, presently, Ukraine has no common strategy; only individual players make scattered attempts to improve the situation."
 
The arrangement of the public dialogue will become a part of the large-scale educational project of Foundation for Development of Ukraine "Ukraine Professional". In general, the project is aimed at harmonizing the business needs in professional personnel and personnel training system. It is planned to conduct a diagnostics of the situation, to find the ways out, and to arrange a wide public discussions within the framework of the project. The project envisages development of training courses, roundtables, conferences, studies and other activities.  
 
The roundtable "Quality of professional training for Ukraine's labor market" to be held on November 29, 2006 will open the project. Leading educational experts, representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Economy, the State Employment Office, academic society and associations of employers will participate in the roundtable. The Foundation for Development of Ukraine will be the leading player and moderator of the public dialogue. As a result, the positions of all parties concerned will be made public. Also, it will be come clear what changes and steps are necessary to make the personnel training system more effective.
