Today on 16 May, Donetsk government and businesses have signed Ukraine Without TB Memorandum initiated by the Foundation for Development of Ukraine, its President Rinat Akhmetov, as well as Donetsk Regional State Administration, and Donetsk Regional Council. Prominent Ukrainian athlete Sergey Bubka, Zaporozhye Governor Yevgeniy Chervonenko, governors of Lvov and Nikolayev regions, as well as Donetsk region leaders attended the event, informs Donetsk-based reporter of REGNUM.

"I know what TB is. My family suffered from this disaster too. My brother has just a half of lung left. I am sure we will be not simply fighting but prevail", said Rinat Akhmetov. Zaporozhye Governor Yevgeniy Chervonenko spoke at the event and thanked Rinat Akhmetov and Vladimir Logvinenko for having started a good cause. "TB doesn’t have mercy on anyone. It isn't biased against political colours or wealth", he said. Mr Chervonenko stated that people should do charity "because you won't have pockets lying in a coffin". Lvov Governor Pyotr Oliynyk said "it is good to see an example of social responsibility of business in Donetsk" and stressed that "Ukraine has no program for construction of TB facilities or necessary laws in place". Donetsk Governor Vladimir Logvinenko summed up speeches of politicians and declared his commitment to focus all efforts on TB fighting program. "We must have the result delivered by 2011. The event today is a striking example of how efforts of the government, business, and public can be consolidated".
