Ukraine's MP (Party of Regions) and President of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov calls TB a national disaster for Ukraine. He believes the key for a successful fight against TB is consolidation of efforts of the government, business, and public.
 
He said that on 16 May in Donetsk before signing the Ukraine Without TB Memorandum aimed at closer cooperation between the public, the government, and business to defeat TB epidemic in the country. 
 
“Tuberculosis is a national disaster. This infection can slam into every house, every family”, he noted.
 
Rinat Akhmetov believes we should regard TB as a national disaster and consolidate efforts of all layers of the society for effective battle against it. "I’m sure that in this case we won't just be fighting TB but prevail", he stressed.
 
The MP revealed his brother suffered from TB but being supported by the whole family he defeated the disease.
