In August 2007 the Foundation within the framework of the program "Health of the Nation" and within the framework of the project "Stop Tuberculosis" started implementation of national special projects on TB. Among the key objectives of the national special projects is to hold scientific and practical and socially important TB conferences.
 
November 13-14, 2007 Foundation for Development of Ukraine together with All Ukrainian Foundation "Coalition of HIV service organizations" are to hold the Second All Ukrainian Conference on the national response to TB epidemic: 10 TB challenges and ways to overcome them.
 
The Conference will take place in Hotel "Rus’" (Hospital Street, 4). For participation in the conference there will be invited representatives of the Supreme Council and the Government, national and regional anti-TB services, medical institutions, international and national non-governmental organizations, representatives of science and experts. The total number of participants at the conference is about 200 people.
 
 
The key objectives of the Conference are:
 to discuss 10 key TB challenges and the ways of overcoming the challenges using joint efforts of state and non-governmental partners.
 to develop the principles and mechanisms of coordination between all public and non-governmental organizations to improve the efficiency of actions against TB in Ukraine at the national and regional levels.
 to discuss the perspectives of development of social and medical TB services for a high risk group in order to provide for TB due detection and treatment.
 to discuss the ways of improvement of legal and normative bases on TB.
 to discuss the ways of overcoming specific aspects of TB epidemic in Ukraine (multi-drug-resistant TB, co-infection HIV-TB, TB in institutions of confinement, etc.)  
 to exchange experience between the participants of the conference, learn the best practices in Ukraine and in the world on TB combating.
 
The format of the conference suggests holding an open round table on 10 TB challenges, press conferences, plenary sessions and working groups.
 
Additional information on the Conference will be placed on the web-site of organizers, in UNIAN-Zdorovye bulletin and in mass media after October 25, 2007.
