Rinat Akhmetov, Member of Parliament and President of Foundation for Development of Ukraine, calls TB a national disaster and finds it necessary to consolidate efforts of the government, business, and the public to solve the problem. 
 
He said it on Wednesday (16 May) before signing Ukraine Without TB Memorandum on cooperation between the government, business, and the public in the fight against TB.
 
“TB is a national disaster. This infection can slam into every house, every family”, Rinat Akhmetov pointed out.
 
He believes the effective battle against this disease in Ukraine requires calling it a national disaster and consolidating efforts of all layers of population. “I am strongly convinced that with all that we will not just be fighting against TB but we will defeat it.
 
The MP said his brother had suffered from a serious form of TB and only due to the support of his family did he manage to survive.
