 Project Selection and Launch

The success of the Foundation depends largely on the chosen programmes and projects. Programme selection is a key process performed together with the Board and the Advisory Board of the Foundation, its management and outside experts. The selection procedure is governed by the internal regulations of the Foundation and designed to ensure the highest standards of transparency and efficiency.

A list of potential activity fields and problems is compiled by the Board members and Foundation’s employees. The process is preceded by a preliminary analysis of the most important social issues and recommendations of the Foundation’s Advisory Board.

The project can be included on the list and analyzed only if it meets the following criteria:

• Being in line with the Foundation’s mission and goals. The project should support one of the three priorities of the Foundation, lead to tangible and measurable improvements in the community, and ensure these changes are permanent (including the institutional change).
Rendering obvious and urgent help. The project should bring concrete results and benefit the recipients.
• Being in line with the Foundation’s strategy. The project should agree with ongoing and completed projects of the Foundation to ensure the continued focus of the Foundation’s activity.
• Being unique. The project should not duplicate any programme of other foundations and organization or support ineffective governmental projects.
• Being simple to implement and contain a realizable action plan.

The Foundation’s Board Selects the Projects.

The Board or the Board Programme Committee makes the ultimate decision on which projects to include on the list of the Foundation’s programmes.

After that, every selected project is carefully analyzed and prepared for implementation launch.

The project development stage includes reviewing the best international and domestic experience, selecting the best ways to realise the project in Ukraine, and making a list of potential project implementation agents (project partners).

Partner Selection Criteria:

• Positive reputation and public acceptance
• National and international recognition
• Experience in realisation of similar projects
• Partner’s aims must be in line with the Foundation’s mission
• Proven relevant skills

If more than one potential partner exists for a programme, the Foundation will conduct a selection process. Decisions will be made by an ad hoc experts committee. It is possible that several partners can be chosen to implement different parts of a programme.

The Board of Foundation makes the final decision as to the project implementation launch and approves its budget.
