LARGE FAMILIES OF UKRAINE PROJECT

 


(UNDER PRESIDENTIAL PROGRAM WARMING A CHILD WITH LOVE)

 


1.  PROJECT PROFILE:

 

• Project: Large Families of Ukraine

Realized under programme: Contemporary Education

• Project partners:
— Secretariat of the President of Ukraine;
— Regional administrations of Donetsk, Luhansk and Uzhgorod; Council of Ministers of the Autonomy Republic of Crimea.

 Project’s launch: 2008;

• Areas covered by the project: the Autonomy Republic of Crimea; Donetsk, Zakarpatskaya and Luhansk oblasts.

 

• Project implementation timeline: 2008.

 

• Project budget: UAH 17mln.

2. PROJECT MISSION
• To establish social partnership between the government, the businesses, and the family implying comprehensive support to the family provided by the government and the businesses and making the family responsible to the society for bringing up children.
• To improve housing conditions for 44 large families in the Autonomy Republic of Crimea; Donetsk, Zakarpattye, and Luhansk oblasts to bring up and educate children well.

 

3. PROJECT GOAL:
To provide housing to all registered large families in the Autonomy Republic of Crimea; Donetsk, Zakarpattye, and Luhansk oblasts with over 10 underage children by 01 January, 2009.
 
4. PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
• to examine housing conditions of the large families;
• to identify families with over 10 underage children that need better housing conditions;
• to develop and coordinate a memorandum comprising key principles of activities in the regions within the project;
• to sign a memorandum on collaboration with regional state administrations;
• to approve working groups in every region;
• to distribute responsibilities under communication strategy of the project;
• to oversee project implementation;
• to develop legislative initiatives to provide assistance to large families of Ukraine with low-income;
• to protect rights and legitimate interests of large families and ensure a good standard of living;
• to hold a round-table for representatives of the regions covered by the project to share experience;
• to carry out a national poll “Family, children, demographic development of Ukraine” together with the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sport;
• to highlight the problems (achievements) of large families of Ukraine through media involvement.
 

 

OUTCOMES:
Housing conditions of all 44 families covered by the project will improve by 01 January, 2009 with due regard to their needs and quality standards.
