About project «Digital Future of Journalism»

The project was launched by Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine and System Capital Management in 2007 and is being implemented in partnership with the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, in particular with the Mohyla School of Journalism.

The project targets to train journalists ready to adopt the digital culture and develop their editorial offices to match international media trends.

The course focuses to involve journalists to learn digital technologies in the modern media. The curriculum provides extensive information about the cutting-edge media and news formats as well as how to present a story in different media. There are also modules on blogosphere in modern journalism, creation of audio and video podcasts, information graphics and photography in a modern editorial office, economy and business models of modern convergent newsrooms, etc.

The course runs in a modern newsroom of Kyiv Mohyla Academy.

It should be noted that this June the project’s 100th graduate will complete the studies and receive a certificate. Most of them learnt skills to use the latest media technologies that will help them significantly improve the quality in their media.

The Foundation for Development of Ukraine has invested over US Dollar 1,309 mln in the project so far.

Project timeline: 2007-2014.
