Two positron emission tomography facilities will appear in Ukraine in a year. They ensure complete and safe cancer diagnostics. Paris operates 18 of these devices and Moscow – 15. The purchase will cost $5m. The overall budget of the program Cancer Can be Cured funded by Rinat Akhmetov amounts to $40m.
Igor Shchepotin, Director of Ukraine's National Institute of Cancer: "I have analyzed the situation many-many times. We have the highest morbidity and mortality in Europe. With this equipment, we can actually change the cancer situation in Ukraine within quite a short period".
Rinat Akhmetov, businessman: "I believe that no one will be afraid if we inform the public that the first and second stages can be almost fully cured. Our goal is to invest money in early diagnostics"
