The journalists will be told how to work
Staring from November 2007 the journalists will be taught by foreign specialists for free. To the words of URA-Inform correspondent, this information was reported today, on October 16, by the Director of the Kyiv Mohyla Academy School of Journalism Yevhen Fedchenko at the presentation of the project "Digital Future Journalism".
To the words of Fedchenko, classical journalism is enjoying less and less demand in the whole world.
- Newspaper reporters, correspondents and radio hosts will have the lowest salaries in the 21st century. And they have the biggest chances to lose jobs, noted Fedchenko.
The Director of the School of Journalism explains this fact by changes in the key tendencies of the world media development and reduction in the newspaper circulation and TV audiences.
- We know that it’s the fault of the Internet, noted Fedchenko. He also stated that more and more people start using the Internet and so they do not have the necessity to use traditional mass media.
In her turn, the Project Manager Svetlana Panyushkina reported that within the framework of the action organized under the auspices of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine foreign lecturers will be invited to teach the Ukrainian journalists to work in contemporary conditions. During the training the journalists will be taught how to use the equipment and new forms of material presentation and placement. The total cost of the project will amount to 550 thousand dollars per year and it is expected to last for 3 years.
Panyushkina also noted that the first three groups of journalists will be taught for free.
- The Group will include 25 people. To be admitted into the Group one shall have higher or uncompleted higher education and minimum 1 year of experience in the journalism field, underlined the Project Manager.
