The Ukrainians know quite a lot about tuberculosis. However, they think that there is little possibility to get infected with TB. This fact was supported by the results of all Ukrainian sociological research "Accepting the TB problem with the population of Ukraine" presented in Kyiv today.
 
The research has shown that more than 80% of the Ukrainians know quite a lot about the symptoms of the decease, how it is spread and preventive measure. 28% of the respondents believe so and 52% think that Ukraine is at the threashhold of TB epidemic. 55% believe that there is little possibility for them to get infected with TB or it’s impossible at all. 92% of the citizens would apply to the doctor in case they get infected. However only 37% trust in medical help. 29% of the Ukrainians are sure that they can get the required help if they apply to the doctor.
 
The research was carried out by "Researching&Branding Group" upon the request of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine. The total number of respondents is 2,800. This poll is the first part of a 5-year program "Stop TB in Ukraine".
